5 Ways to Reduce Waste (While Supporting Your Coffee Habit)

According to the International Coffee Organization, roughly 600 billion paper and plastic cups are distributed worldwide each year...and that's just the cups! Coffee is such a pleasure and it doesn't have to create waste. Here are my top 5 ways to zero waste coffee.

1. Bring a Cup, or a Jar

That's right, any glass jar with a lid is a to go cup. I prefer a pint sized canning jar with a narrow opening because it's easy to drink from and fits in my car cup holder.

2. Use a Reusable Filter

Our linen filters are easy to use and clean and when they eventually wear out, they are compostable, making them truly zero waste.

3. Reuse Your Coffee Bag

Each time you buy beans from the bulk bins, you can reuse the same bag. I simply empty my coffee into a glass jar at home and put the paper coffee bag inside my market bag for next time!

4. Refuse The Lid

Forgot your to go container? It happens. Simply take your coffee to go with no plastic lid. Just leave a little room in the cup so it won't slosh over and enjoy!

5. Drink your coffee shaken, not stirred

This works well if you use a jar as to go cup and with reusable cups that close completely. This simple action keeps countless plastic stir sticks out of production and out of our waterways!
