Helping harvest at my local CSA deepened my understanding of my food’s true value. Respect for the natural growing environment and not wanting to waste a single morsel of produce, led me to design my produce bags inspired by the elegant shape of the trumpet flower. I chose linen for aesthetic reasons and quickly learned of its other magical qualities from the linen mills in Lithuania. Linen is made from the flax plant. The fiber itself has anti-bacterial qualities, is stronger when wet than dry, and is 20% more absorbent than cotton making it perfect for food storage! The trumpet flower inspired the perfect container for my hard won local produce. It’s simple beauty translates well to linen and it’s shape accommodates all sorts of veggies. I love nestling my produce in my inspiration and hope you will too.
