FLAX

"Kitchen - Garden"

A space to grow plants for everyday use in the home.

Flax = Linen

Flax for linen was once a significant part of family farms.

Our name is rooted in our desire to re-center textile production on regenerative farms.

Every purchase you make supports making Pennsylvania grown linen a reality.

Kitchen Garden Textiles was founded by Heidi Barr, a dancer turned costume designer and textile artist. She was inspired to begin this body of work by urban farmers in her Philadelphia neighborhood.

Strong relationships with a sew shop in Allentown and several freelance seamstresses in Philadelphia, keep the shop stocked with textiles ethically crafted in Pennsylvania.

Wanting to keep everything local led Heidi to the shocking truth that there is no linen fabric produced in the United States. Not deterred, she co-founded the PA Flax Project with Emma De Long of Kneehigh Farm and began the work to rebuild a regional flax to linen supply.
